Types of online planning applications

Once you have correctly identified the property you are enquiring after, you have the option to choose one of the following actions that require planning approval:

  • Change the use of a the property

  • Start a home occupation or home business

  • Park commercial vehicles

  • Apply to develop multiple or grouped dwellings

  • Construct a new building or extend/alter an existing building (other than a dwelling)

  • Construct a new single dwelling or extend or make alterations to an existing dwelling

  • Seek approval for a use or development that has already commenced or been constructed

  • Propose to erect a sign.

Online planning process

You will then be taken through a series of questions to choose the specific type of application you will need to submit. Once this has been determined, you will be shown a list of relevant documents, regulations and policies that may apply to your planning application. Once you have read through these, you can proceed to the application by registering a password and email address. This will allow you to save and return to your application when you need to.
